WHOBUDDIES --Conservation Heroes Who Give More Than A Hoot!

A little Whobuddy history-
The whobuddies' headquarters are located in an old oak tree in the woods next to the Roosevelt Elementary School. Only one human knows of the whobuddies existence, at least until now. His name is Ralph, the long-time custodian at the elementary school. He discovered the whobuddies when he was a 4th grade student at th school.
On this pecticular sunny afternoon after school, Ralph overhears a conversation between a few of Mrs. Gumm's 4th grade elementary students. They have been studying about the environment and were expressing their concern about how ugly the near by lake looks. The kids are sounding very frustrated because they want to do something to make the lake better, but they don't know what to do or where to start. Ralph senses their passion and desire for improving their environment. He knows that they are sincere and can be trusted.
Ralph leads the kids to the big, old oak tree in the woods. Once they arrive, Ralph reaches into his shirt pocket and pulls out a very unusual looking sound device attached to a long string. He holds it up in the air and starts to twirl it. The strange device makes a high pitch noise that is very irritating to the kids. After a few twirls something strange begins to happen. The wind begins to blow, the oak leaves start to quickly vibrate, and the tree branches start to shake. Then suddenly, out of no where, a bolt of lightening strikes the tree. The kids fall back covering their eyes from the intense light. When they steady themselves and uncover their eyes they are totally shocked by what they see.
The massive trunk of the old oak tree had completely opened up making a huge entrance. Ralph smiles at the kids' facial expressions. He leads them into the wonderful world of the "whobuddies". Ralph knows that this day is just the beginning of wonderful and exciting adventures for the kids. He knows the students will work together with the whobuddies on many future endeavors, and he knows that the environment will be in good hands.
